2025 Spring Fundraising Dinner
Our annual spring fundraising event was a great success! Thank you to all our generous sponsors and volunteers who made this evening possible! We couldn't do it without you! Thank you to Henry and Jacqueline Scholten for again preparing a fantastic meal! Special thank you to Dr. Calvin Beisner from the Cornwall Alliance for making the trip from Memphis, Tennessee to join us and address pressing questions about manmade climate change by combining a biblical worldview, theology, and ethics with excellent science, economics, and politics. Dr. Beinser discussed several principals starting with God creating the environment to be resilient and dynamic. Genesis 1:31 declares, “God saw all that He had made and behold it was very good.” This tells us that the climate system (which is included in “all that He had made”); is very good. The secular world would have us believe that the climate system is prone to catastrophic results from relatively minor perturbations. This is actually a form of blasphemy and stems from a lack of fearing God (Jeremiah 5:21-25). Does this mean humans are not responsible (if God is in control)? In Genesis 1:28 God commands mankind to “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” Man has God-given authority over the sea, air, and earth. With authority comes responsibility. Finally, we heard about the variety of scare tactics the “experts” will use to scare people into believing lies about climate change. They like to present information out of context. For example, when discussing the rise of CO2 and human produced greenhouse gases they fail to mention that CO2 and GHG actually redirect the sun rays and act to warm up the earth surface keeping he average temperature moderate. Without GHG, the average global temperature would be -18 degrees Celsius making the world virtually uninhabitable. They use frightening graphs showing massive changes with temperature rises in bright red. However, when put in context you see the graph is only showing a few years with a “zoomed in” graph exaggerating the effect. Pertinent information is often left out and predictive models continue to be cited even though they are not accurate.
We encourage you to learn more about this topic. Cornwall Alliance has a podcast available on multiple podcast platforms called “Created to Reign” (https://cornwallalliance.org/podcast/). On this podcast, Dr. Calvin Beisner, Dr. David Legates, and experts in science, economics, theology, ethics, and public policy strive to think Biblically about creation care, global warming, and the world’s poor. ARPA Canada created a report with more detailed information regarding the biblical principals of environmental stewardship (https://arpacanada.ca/publication/biblical-principles-of-environmental-stewardship/).
Thank you also to all our generous sponsors and volunteers who made this evening possible! We couldn't do it without you!
